The Pink Ribbon Walk is a national fundraising movement, organising sponsored charity walks in locations around the country in aid of Action Breast Cancer, a programme of the Irish Cancer Society.

Empowering individuals and communities to increase breast cancer awareness, promote healthy living and raise funds for Action Breast Cancer through a fun and rewarding experience.
In 2009, a group of determined, resourceful Kells, Co Meath women, some of whom had been affected by breast cancer themselves, decided to organise a sponsored walk to raise money for Action Breast Cancer and a national movement was born.
Pink Ribbon Walk SuccessSince then, the Pink Ribbon Walk has gone from strength to strength. Kells has been joined by the Killaloe Pink Ribbon Walk in 2010 and the inaugural Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk in 2012. To date, Pink Ribbon Walks around Ireland have raised over €370,000 to support people who are battling breast cancer.

The Ireland Involved Awards
Penny McGowan, Chairperson of the Kells Pink Ribbon Walk committee, was presented with the I Care about the Community award by President Mary McAleese at the Ireland Involved Awards in 2009. The Kells Pink Ribbon Walk was also short-listed for Charity of the Year.
