The basics
- Start as soon as you get your sponsorship card and give yourself plenty of time.
- Encourage family, friends and work colleagues to help you fundraise.
- Always carry your sponsorship card with you - you never know who you’ll meet!
- Create your own online sponsorship page on a website such as My Charity.
Fundraising for family and friends
- Organise a coffee morning for 10 friends and charge them €10 each.
- Ask people to sponsor you instead of giving you a birthday present.
- Offer practical favours in return for sponsorship, i.e. walk your neighbour’s dog.
- Ask people to sponsor you in return for singing karaoke or dyeing your hair.
Fundraising in the community
- Hold a car boot sale and ask people if they’re willing to donate unwanted objects.
- Organise a quiz night or a bake sale in your local pub or community hall.
- Find out if you can do a street collection in a popular local spot.
- Ask your supermarket if you can organise a bag-packing afternoon.
Fundraising at work
- Ask if you can use the company newsletter to request sponsorship.
- Find out if your boss is willing to make a company donation.
- Organise a dress-down or no uniform day in return for sponsorship
- Plan a fun work night out and ask people to make a donation in return.
