We fund research that plays a huge role in the fight against breast cancer.
We know for example, that thanks to new treatment options arising from research, 83% of women diagnosed with breast cancer today will go on to survive for five years or longer. This has grown from only 70% fifteen years ago.
We want to see a day where 100% of women will live well beyond a breast cancer diagnosis.
The Irish Cancer Society is the largest independent funder of research in the country. The money you raise is being used to fund innovative research projects that are making important breakthroughs in treatment and diagnosis, not just for breast cancer, but for a whole range of other cancers.
At the moment, there are eight breast cancer research projects being funded by the Irish Cancer Society to a value of over €1 million.
